Video: Undergrad dies in accident

A 24-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured when the car they were traveling crashed into railings of the Wanawasala Bridge along the Colombo-Kandy Road this morning.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the victim was a final year student of the Sri Jayewardenepura University and from Uda Peradeniya area in Kandy.

She was on her way to the Jayewardenepura University when the accident happened.

The injured were said to be the family members of the victim. Two of them suffered serious injuries. (Sanath Desmond)

In Sri Lanka most of the accidents caused due to high speed and poor tyres. If you take 100 accidents 99 of them the tyre conditions were very poor. Sri Lanka should introduce a minimum tread levels on the tyres.

Rest in peace for who has died and a speedy recovery for the rest !!

Well there are many wannabe fools in SL who modify their normal road car into closer to sports cars. What they fail to understand is the fact that they are not made for racing! These Honda Civic, lancer etc people who modify should be banned from driving they are disgrace to this nation.

Honda Civic is not considered a sports car, unless it's a proper Type R. Many people think normal Civic that they drive is a sports car and try to show off. And in the end its another sad story.
