Two Dummalasuriya cops interdicted over suspect’s death

A sergeant and a constable, attached to the Dummalasuriya Police, were interdicted on charges connected to the death of a suspect while in police custody, police said today.

The suspect, arrested on Wednesday morning on charges of stealing a gold necklace, was found dead inside the police lock-up that night.

Police said the two interdicted officers had been on duty at the time of the incident.
