scary to overtake ?? first tell me can you drive ??? We are overtaking traveling vehicle, not stopped one. So the relative speed is around 10-20. Are you still scare to overtake ????

    Rishan Friday, 09 August 2013 06:03 PM

I guess 70~80kmph is the ideal max speed for these kind of small cars below 1300 cc.

    Erika Friday, 09 August 2013 11:00 AM

Do not blame the road. It is pure negligence of driving.

    unchikun Friday, 09 August 2013 09:48 AM

The cae was traveling at 140km/hr.

    MW Friday, 09 August 2013 03:08 AM

it seems that you lack knowledge about vehicles.

    Sara Thursday, 08 August 2013 05:09 PM

they are little better that three wheelers, that is all.

    Sara Thursday, 08 August 2013 05:07 PM

Many drivers know only to put pressure on the accelerator. But know nothing about controlling the vehicle. We see this every day on the roads.

22 km per litre, can life get any easier?

    shi Thursday, 08 August 2013 11:36 AM

These indian cars are made to be used in city limits not on high ways...

    kithsiri Thursday, 08 August 2013 11:20 AM

It's only 100km from Galle. If driven at 100kmps, we can go in 1hr. If speed upto 120kmps, one can save 10 min. If slowed down to 80kmps, the delay is only15 min. The main benefit I get from highway is less traffic. We should evaluate the risk against the return we get from time save. May the victims attain nibbana and wish speedy recovery for injured!

Of course you moron, tell us something new!

The thrill of SPEEDING & AGONY of Death !

    saraprobe Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:19 AM

These Indian cars do not even meet basic NCAP safety standard and lucky to have the wreckage left let alone people in it!

    Speed thrills but kills!

    Nodrog Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:08 AM

A small car with 5 people, bad tyres, no air-bags & speeding...recipe for disaster. Let this be a lesson to others not to tempt fate by taking unnecessary chances.

    Tony Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:07 AM

This is a common site here in Denmark

    LadyM Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:06 AM

Sad. Most accidents occur when road rules are not followed. Driving on the expressway is much more safer than our Colombo roads.

    Anuradha Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:04 AM

These Indian vehicles are not suitable for highways. They lack basics at high speeds. Our drivers be aware that it is not only accelerating but the vehicle should be designed in such a way to safely perform at high speeds. know what is driven and know the limit.

    Supun1 Thursday, 08 August 2013 10:04 AM

    Very thin lanes-Scary to overtake
Thin shoulder-Cant even change a tire of jeep,SUV,big vehicle
slippy road conditions-Scary to drive in rain
    Highway or a Chinese scarp.

    The Southern expressway is doomed!

    PRASANNAJIT Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:54 AM

    ANTON Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:48 AM

HEY.... STILL WE HAVE ONLY ONE EXPRESSWAY IN SRILANKA. OTHER ONE IS ABOUT TO OPEN. GOD BLESS MOTORISTS.

Porky Pig Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:40 AM

Not much left of the car. Sad. Just pure negligence.

Porky Pig Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:39 AM

That reminds me of my days in Saudi Arabia. It was a common site on the Jeddah - Yanbu highway.

    KD Thursday, 08 August 2013 09:33 AM

Tires unroadworthy. Should not have been traveling at high speed in those tires. It probably lost traction and slid. Police at the toll gates should not only check lights, they should check tires too.
