Some trade unions that are funded by the Western Countries are out to de-stabilise the country by their strike action, Minister of Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa charged yesterday.

Addressing a ceremony to distribute financial assistance to public servants  under the housing loan scheme that had been launched by the National Housing Authority and the People’s Bank in Anuradhapura yesterday said, these trade unions are now launching one day token strikes just to get publicity in the international media just to create a grim picture on Sri Lanka.

However, the minister said these trade unions which launched strike action in the recent past failed come up with a valid reason for their action and completely failed in their attempt.
Mr. Weerransa said it is the duty of all citizens to save the nation from the Western conspiracy of bringing a resolution against Sri Lanka against Sri Lanka in March this year
Some 350 public servants received assistance for housing under the scheme These assistance worth a total of Rs.120 million was distributed among the public servants at yesterday's ceremony.

Deputy Minister of Traditional Industries Weerakumara Dissanayake, Peoples Bank Chairman W. Karunajeewa and National Housing Authority Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera participated in the ceremony.

Look who is talking ! He was a hero of trade union actions when he was a "revolutionary" in the JVP and now that he has transformed himself to be a "capitalist", he hates trade union actions.

Anything said against the government now has become a western conspiracy for the ruling party. Do not make a laughing stock of yourselves.

Isnt there something called self dignity and shame Minister. Wasnt it you who organised the JVP union and got many poor workers killed and did so much damge to Sri Lankan economy. You always have a scapegoat - the West. You shamless man.

The whole working population should reject this man for betraying the workers. This man came to politics through TU and now he betraying the working class. During the fast-unto death he betrayed himself. He is full of betrayal.

Didn't you do the same, when you were in the JVP?

    Channa Monday, 06 February 2012 04:50 AM

    U mean "Batahira Adirajyawadeenge Kumanthranayak"?

    Dismanirie Monday, 06 February 2012 05:18 AM

Exactly what motivation could "The West" have for destabilising Sri Lanka? With an annual GDP of less than $60 Billion, Sri Lanka is hardly significant in the grand scheme of things. Politicians like Weeransa would do better to focus on proper governance and leave the blame game to those who know what they are talking about.

he was maybe in the past an trade union, but he have a point.
those western abasades are doing more then they allowed to do.
als those western NGO and especialy those stupid christian organisations are also doing more then they are allowed to do.

and all with their own agenda.
do not think they care of Sri Lanka or the Tamil people.
western country's that scream the most against sri lanka do even les care about Tamil people then the Sinhala ever did.
they only see in sri lanka an strategic value on the trade route map.
they do not care the lifes of any sri lankan, Sinhala or Tamil.
they rather see a civil war back in Sri Lanka to control us more, then peace.
