The whereabouts of over 12,000 people in the North who were either arrested, abducted or went missing during the war is still not known, the relatives of those missing people said today and urged the government to intervene.

Relatives of those missing from Vavuniya and Kilinochchi took to the streets in Vavuniya today saying although it has been one year since the end of the war they have yet to obtain information on the whereabouts of their missing loved ones.

They urged the government to intervene in the matter and find their loved ones. (Daily Mirror online)

That time nobody to tell and nobody to listen. That's the issue. It's not hidden fact that lot of LTTE cardres were killed in the last battle. They might be among them.

These protest were not held when the Tamils were abducted by the LTTE & forced in to the LTTE, yes you will find mass graves with bodies of dead LTTE fighters, now these are the bodies that were left behind when heavy fighting ever took place. These bodied were buried as the ICRC or the LTTE never came forward to claim them or else there was no time to be dispatching dead LTTE caders. So it is obvious that there are missing persons. If these protestors have proof that they were arrested by the armed forces, they can move against the government. Sorry but it is the truth & sad too.

my condolences to all who have lost. Would you also like to know how many others in the south also lost their lives during the last 30 yrs. We need to move forward. if its information these people want it must be provided however sad it would be. not knowing if a relative is dead or not is terrible. Perhaps a government agency can be set up to help find all in boosa ect so that those who are thought to be lost can be traced. others in European countries, Australia should also be added to the list.

Clearly, LTTE dominated those areas referred and came under GOSL after 18/05/09. So, who should be responsible?
Remember, GOSL carried out the largest & safest rescue mission in the world with 'zero' civilian casualties and if GOSL was not concered so much on the innocent Tamils, they could have just looked on the largest massacre in the world in May'09.
