Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva said today that though some people thought the president disliked him now they were wrong.: It was his belief that, not only the president, but the whole of DA Rajapaksa’s family loved him.

“Some people believe that the President is angry with me now. I know that he is in love with me. I know Basil Rajapaksa and the whole of DA Rajapaksa’s family loves me. I was a close associate of the Rajapaksa family since childhood. Mr Silva’s remarks at an event held at the Upulvan Vishnu Devalaya, in Kelaniya where he donated gift packs to 1500 children who had scored more than 100 marks at the Grade v scholarship exam.

He said that he once again had an opportunity to resume development work in Kelaniya, which had been stalled during the recent past.

Mr. Silva said that he had earlier opened his mouth only to eat, but that now he opened his mouth because he was a mature person,. “I earlier opened my mouth only to eat but now I open my mouth because I am now a mature man. The monks should not have any doubtabout it,” he said. Several minister, including Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Rajitha Senarathne, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Bandula Gunawardane and Nimal Siripala de Silva also took part in the event.(Ajith Siriwardane)
