Colombo District Judge M. Laffar Thahir yesterday restrained the forum from holding the Annual General Meeting or expelling the General Secretary of the forum Badoordeen Mohamed Murshideen on considering the submissions made by the Plaintiff’s Counsel Farook Thahir and N.M. Riyaz instructed by M.R.M. Fazeem.
The Plaintiff submitted that the first defendant is the president while the other defendants are Executive Committee members of the forum. The Plaintiff states that at a committee meeting held on June 11, 2009 the plaintiff and several other members of the Executive Committee objected to and protested against the selection of three defendants to the Executive Committee. He contended that under the constitution the president has no right to select three additional members to the committee and only the Executive Committee members have the right to select additional members to the Executive Committee according to Article 6 (ii) of the Constitution of the Forum.
