Samurdhi official around the island sent telegrams to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Economic development Minister Basil Rajapaka today requesting them to accelerate the pension scheme of Samurdhi officials.

The General Secretary of the Joint Samurdhi trade union alliance, Sunil Subasinghe said 24,500 Samurdhi officials around the island sent telegrams to the President and Minister Basil Rajapaksa asking them to accelerate the pension scheme as the officials had sacrificed a lot to bring the government into power.     A commitment was given that Samurdhi personnel are entitled to pension. Surely none of them are in the retirement age in order to speed up!! May be too tired of election campaigns.
