    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 11:33 AM

So a lawful government should allow retired army officer to breach all military rules and tarnish the image of country??
Is that the democracy & freedom you are looking for???

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:06 AM

Wake up mother Lanka, we are lions not traitors! Our Big Boy is held in an unknown location, we need to rescue him ... Wake up people!

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 09:50 AM

Mahinda Rajapakse has shown time and again that he has no time for dissent. Either some one agrees with him or he is against him. All those who sincerely believed in MR and his promise of a better future now has to stomach the most undigestible truth. MR is no democrat. Demagogue - yes. Autocrat - yes. He is nothing but one of the those old Soviet style dictators who claimed to be "democratic socialists" while the masses were completely denied any democratic rights. Very soon there will be goons all over, evesdropping as to what people are saying so that dissent can be eliminated frrom the surface. We have no choice but to look to the West for support. India will not support us as they always have their own agenda "safely tucked in" regardless of what happens.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:09 AM

Hey Sri Lanka falling from grace to to be cursed will not do much, we need to rally in one big force of people's power like what happened in the Phillipians

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:14 AM

I think the protests with violence will create a situation where Govt can again rig the election. Opposition should not resolve toward violence. Only non-violent protests can win against this Govt.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:14 AM

There are few traitors here, who whines for foreign intervention. It is our country and cannot be given to any US puppet and a traitor! How many of you are with such a person? How many of you would like to betray our country?

Let justice be done; and in doing so, let it be done in a manner that the people will see that it (justice) is really being done.

It is not too late yet.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:42 AM

What is this two groups. Probable UNP & JVP who feels very lonely without General because their parties have become bankrupt without corhesive leaders. Let the General to prove inocence and settle the issue. How come this country is anarchy as mentioned by RAVANA just because the General has been detained for various issues?

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 10:24 AM

Crooks got together to send an honest hero to jail.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:19 AM

Go people go......come forward against corrupted politics.....................we are with u SF

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:42 PM

Why can't people let army to take over their actions? protests would only take this country back in time, like in those JVP days.

Things should be dealt with proper manner, e.g. Filling a FR petition is good.

Can't let anyone to create a mess in this country, otherwise no point in defeating the LTTE.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:21 AM

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:51 AM

    well said

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 10:31 AM

I still don't believe how some people justify government actions. Why can't you simply allow people to at least protest. I think as a nation we are blind to see future consequences of these developments. Are we protecting democracy or individuals as a nation?

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:23 AM

this is the trick, the police can't disolve a peaceful sathyagraha so they send some thugs to create some clash and then take over the balance part with tear gas. very easy

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:58 PM

MR is digging a pit under their feet. He knows that he was not the winner. The frustration is too much for him.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 07:27 AM

Well said Ravana. These so called professionals must know that THEY CANNOT FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE AT ALL THE TIME AND
