Investigations are underway on a part-time teacher employed at a leading Colombo school who has defrauded over six lakhs from several people promising them foreign employment in Europe.

The teacher who had promised the jobs had won the confidence of the victims by collecting the cash in front of the school.

The teacher is reported to have worked in three different government schools earlier and is suspected to have been involved in several other fraudulent schemes. (Daily Mirror online)

Teachers must command respect from society. Respect is directly proportional to the wealth under one's command. You can not acquire wealth only by teaching. This is the paradox.
