Most of the teachers I know do not know that it is a crime to use a cane on their students. How and why is it that any teacher in Sri Lanka is given the weapon of such a crime against children by the very institutions that are supposed to nurture and protect? This teacher should serve jail time and be dismissed from her job. She is a sadist and not fit to even come close to young children.

We punish children but not the adults who cause the biggest crimes.

Still the teacher does not have any right to physically punish the student!

Tell the teacher to move with the time. The schools should not use the canes any more. The poor student must have got a mental scar for life.I am surprised to hear that Srilanka is not moving with the time.

Even if that was the case, this is not the way to handle that.
