UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake requested the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake to take action against Central Provincial Council Chairman Salinda Dissanayake who had threatened to suspend local bodies which the opposition secures at the coming local government election.

Mr. Dissanayake had reportedly said that all local bodies which are captured by the opposition at the forthcoming local government election would be suspended within 24 hours and put under the care of special commissioners. (YP)

The UNP should file action in Suprem Court against this man on grounds of threatenig to destroy the very foundation of governance under democratic principles.
