Suspended sentence for patricide

Two sons, who pleaded guilty to the charge of beating their father to death, were sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment suspended for ten years by the Galle High Court Judge K.D.K. Hirimburegama.

The two sons were accused of beating to death their fatherHettihandiDharmasena (57) with a machete and a club on May 5, 2004 atKaduruwa inBoossa.
The dispute was said to have been over a block of land. The sons were each fined Rs. 2,500.

Judge's brain should be checked to see if its working properly. In some countries its the electric chair for murder and here its only a penalty of Rs2,500/-.

This is ridiculous, two year prison sentence and a fine for killing their father, unbelievable. They should have got life in prison if nothing else. That's the justice system for you. Real criminals are out on the streets while truly innocent people are suffering for things they did not do.
