A man who had been sentenced to death by the Jaffna High Court today attempted suicide by jumping off the second floor of the Court complex.
The man had been sentenced to death for murdering his son, and attempted the suicide while he was being escorted to the prison vehicle.
The convict is in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the Jaffna hospital. (Daily Mirror online)

This is absurd. If he's sentence to death, why not let him die? Now we are wasting more public money as hospital expenses.

Yes, that's why this man opted to execute this verdict by himself and not to prolong his sentence.
