President Mahinda Rajapaksa asked the people of the country to stay alert on to what was happening in the outside world in order to protect the good name of the Country.

“You should be alert to what is happening in the outside world and stand up to protect the good name of the country,” the President said at a function at Temple Trees today.

He also said that currently there is an international campaign against Sri Lanka by certain channels in order to tarnish the image of the country. “So always be alert to protect the country,” the President said.

Dinithi: you have got your arithmetic wrong. Go to the back of the class. The UPFA never got a two-third majority legally through elections. The so called two-thirds they now have is after having bought over MPs with threats, inducements and what not. That is not called Democracy : which is another subject you need to learn when you are back in the class.

    Zen Friday, 24 June 2011 09:57 AM

Rather than talking nonsense about the good name of the country, the govt should address the issues concerned.

Ruwan Basnayake Friday, 24 June 2011 10:01 AM

The good name of our country has been stuffed up by your fawninng jokers that have no idea of diplomacy. . These are your unqualified yes men that you appoint as diplomats,. Well our poor country should bare the consequences..

    wansa Thursday, 23 June 2011 07:18 PM

Safeguard our country's president, the leadership and the people. The last time we did not safeguard the country's leadership was in 1815 and the British got the country for 130 years.

    Dinithi Thursday, 23 June 2011 05:47 PM

    How to set the example?

    Dinithi Thursday, 23 June 2011 05:46 PM

    Wara Friday, 24 June 2011 02:26 AM

This is the last card he had to play. But I think he has played it too early..

Sri Lankan Friday, 24 June 2011 04:11 AM

Nodanithi where do you live in this world? Surely not in Sri Lanaka. Do you know the meaning of the word "democratic" ? And for your information now in Sri Lanka even you can win at any election if you are one that MR and group wants to win. In furure all elections will be won by UPFA and even within UPFA and opposition those who fall in line with the above cowd only. So try your luck too.
