The US State Department has submitted a report to the US Congress on ‘Measures Taken by the Government of Sri Lanka and International Bodies to Investigate and Hold Accountable Violators of International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law’.
The State department said that this factual supplement explains, in greater detail, issues of international humanitarian law and international human rights law addressed in the Department of State’s March 2012 Report to Congress.
“While this factual supplement draws attention to open questions regarding allegations of violations of international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL), it is not meant to be a legal determination confirming any of those allegations,” it said.

Haha...hypocrisy at its best! The very Government who is using child soldiers and violating Children's Rights (According to the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child, a person under 18 years old is categorized as a child, and the legal age for joining the US Army is 16 years-
every member of the United Nations EXCEPT Somalia and the United States have ratified, accepted, or acceded to the Convention) and committed grave human rights violations in Japan, Iraq, Afghanistan etc are trying to teach others about HR! LOL!

Unacceptable activity and being the so called strong man is the common denominator.

Sena - You cannot compare former Panama strong man Noriega to any of our politicians. Panama was the transshipment point for drugs ( Cocaine) from Columbia to the US. When the US gave him the chance to redeem himself, he was defiant and arrogant. Then what happend is history. He returned to Panama last December after 22 years in US Prisons, a frail broken man, little resemblance to the bellicose, machete-brandishing dictator of old, bar his famously pockmarked face.(pineapple face).

If one can remember General Noriega of Panama - and what happened to him. We have some Americans in power in Sri Lanka as well and they are sure being watched and may meet Noriega's fate

Ok I'll say this again. No matter how much we shout about the crimes committed by the US won't change anything. The US has the military, political, technological, monetary power to do what ever it wants to. In-contrast Sri Lanka is a poor 3rd-world nation heavily dependent on others. This is the the simple truth we all have to face.

Shouldn't we start at home first, before worrying about what is happening in foreign countries?

A great step forward. In Sri Lanka we lack accountably. Very few people take responsibility. It is not only politicians but also ordinary citizens. I can remember hearing a leading government politicians saying the Sri Lanka is a sovereign state when asked about accountably. The world is getting smaller day by day.
