Stage collapses at May Day rally

A stage put up by the Up-Country People's Front in Thalawakale for its May Day rally had collapsed just before the rally ended.

Party leader Shanthini Devi Chandrasekaran and Parliamentarian Radhakrishnan were both on stage at the time of the incident which occurred as people climbed onto the stage to garland their leaders. No one was injured in the incident. (Ranjith Rajapaksa)
