Sri Lanka beat England by 75 runs on the fourth day of the first test on Thursday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Congrats. There were certain negatives; Chandimal threw away his wicket in both inns, three run outs, Sanga was not at his best; more pressure to be applied on in coming new batsman.Super inn by Prasanna.

Congrats! Sri lankan cricketers! But still much to do. Most of our recognized batsmen didn't play well. Sanga hopeless. No one is complaining regarding Chandimal's useless fielding failures. At least Dilshan has done some excellent ( MATCH WINNING ) catches. Sangakara even dropped easy catch. Someone should advice the seniors to be more responsible with their batting & fielding.

Dinithi, England has only one batsman averaging 50+ that is Trott. Sri Lanka has Sanga, Thilan and Mahela in that order of average. Sanga and Mahela are among all time leading run scorers in the world to-date. Thilan has just passed 5000. It is more difficult to maintain a high average when someone plays over a long duration

Very good spin bowling in that slow wicket. And england batsmen are the best in the world in Tests with many 50 run averages. But our batting was horrible. Our batsmen seem to have lost the art of defending with the bat and indeed playing spin. Swann is a good bowler. But he is not somebody unreadable. It is unthinkable to give him 6 wickets on a typical sri lankan track.
