UNP cannot have its own way. President won the election to bring in vital changes including elctoral reforms. Hundred day time table is incidental.What is important is the fundamental changes to bring in Yahapalanaya and establish real democracy distorted and at present because of the PR system.You cannot prune the powers of President and transfer power to PM and leave the other important aspect of the twin issues unattended. If UNP is not willing to do this the only way out is for the President to call upon the party having a majority of seats to form a government and do this.It is true that UNP stood behind the President at the elections,this is precisely why President made RW the Primeminister.But this does not mean that President agreed to abandoned an important part of the reform package which people voted for. We appeal to JVP which is doing a yoman service at present to understand this position. Country will never get this opportunity. UNFA please donot yield.

1978 constitution itself was a hasty legislation which was drafted in camera and passed adopted without any discussion and deliberation. The framers them self made many adjustments to meet their needs. Now they talk about latest reforms that Presidential powers shall be pruned. let us know what powers you are going to cut off and what shall retained. The hasty amendments may lead to much chaos and uncertainty. Please do it carefully without doing tests. for me the known devil is far better than the unknown angle

Yes both essential. UNP wants only a debilitated President by pruning his powers but electorate wants to change representation in Parliament also.
