The election to appoint office-bearers to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is fixed for the 3rd of January 2016, Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera has said.

SLC is being run by an interim committee (since 1st April) appointed by the government. The ICC taking exception to the appointment of an interim committee demanded that a democratically elected governing body be appointed before January 26, 2016, the date for the next ICC meeting.

The new government, which was elected in January, maintained that elections were postponed as the government wanted to probe alleged corruption at SLC under the previous administration.

Hope new SLC will be without Dasas, Palas and Thungas who has grounded Cricket in Sri Lanka!!!

As long as we have the present system, we will have the same corrupt, inefficient cronies back in the Board. Politicians should not be allowed to contest for these positions as it is the standard bench mark for continued corruption and nepotism within SLC. Our system is too corrupt to attempt or accept change. Sadly this is the reality.
