SLAF fights Hunnasgiriya fire

A Mi-17 helicopter of the Sri Lanka Air Force equipped with a 2600 liter bambi bucket had been deployed from Rathmalana to help douse wild fires at around Hunnasgiriya.

The SLAF deployed the helicopter following a request from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) over the disaster.  

According to the Police a fire occurred in Hunnasgiriya forest reserve on yesterday and said that the fire destroyed some 100 acres of land in the forest.

    if a a helicoptor could carry 2600ltrs of sure they could help supply water to drought affected people n land with water in no time..... wish the related people ponder...
