Sri Lanka is to open a consulate office of Sri Lanka in Melbourne Australia. The cabinet has approved establishing of the consulate general office. Melbourne has the largest Sri Lankan community in Australia.(H.F)
There is a SL Consulate in Sydney in addition to our High Commssion in Canberra. There is a Consulate in Toronto also.

Bale Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:09 AM
I think this is a good move which will be beneficial to the HUGE number of Sri Lankan expats living in Melbourne. This probably would've been the reason for setting up one there in the first place.
Thoppigala Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:16 AM
Every Sri Lankan man, woman and child will end up paying for this.

better to shut down one at india and allocate that money to maintain this. No use of keeping more than one consulate in india

Criminal waste of public money. What assstance can this new consul give to the Sri Lankans in Melbourne who are over 90% Australian citizens. This new man probably is a relative a sycophant of the regime or some unqualified fellow who could hardly speak gramatical Engllish like some of the Jokers in Canberra.
