Ten Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, including five children, who arrived illegally by two boats, were arrested at Arichal Munai off Dhanuskodi coast and brought Rameswaram today, police said.

This is the first time that a batch of refugees are arriving from Sri Lanka after the Lankan forces defeated the LTTE in 2009, officials said.

They were arrested for entering Indian territory without passport, police said.In fact they got down from the boats at the Arichal Munai sand dune and were swimming towards the coast when they were nabbed.

They are being questioned, police said.

The refugees told police that they had come from Mullai Theevu after paying Rs 80,000 for each boat. (The Indian Express)

Instead find out why people are leaving Srilanka as after all they are citizens of Srilanka. Instead you are blaming India, that is unfair.

Looks like the Continent of India is spreading refugees through Sri Lanka to Australia, still claiming the war is going on in Sri Lanka. So that UN can increase the numbers for war crimes. I think you must get as many thousands so that UN can intervene, and change regime. Why are there so action taken against the so called Economic refugees who discredit their own country and why are there no one to stop the boats. These pirates will do anything, even dumping bodies at sea.
