gorakaya Sunday, 08 April 2012 09:49 PM
Thank you Shavendra for saving our motherland. Now every one can see how our country developing, and that's why some countries want to disrupt this development.Every one forget how brutal the LTTE were.
raj Sunday, 08 April 2012 10:37 PM
as long Sri Lanka has right to be member of UN, it has an obligations to follow international law.
raj Sunday, 08 April 2012 10:39 PM
what would do if UN decide to have Sunda style referrundum because of thim? Then you can celebrate. We are living in a global village.
Andrzej Sunday, 08 April 2012 10:40 PM
You use the word "freedom" too losely...... We maybe free from terrorism but I don't think we enjoy freedom!
Ronny Sunday, 08 April 2012 11:17 PM
Similarly, UN has the right to express their views with regard to the Member States of the UN. The only difference is the UN staff members don't hold street demonstrations against Member States and also don't go on hunger strikes in front of the Embassies.
ramba Sunday, 08 April 2012 11:40 PM
ok you think international community do not know this, and they are fool?? we won freedom at cost of many thousands tamils..... that is the problem now
Jayasiri Monday, 09 April 2012 12:17 AM

Fair N Square Sunday, 08 April 2012 08:35 PM

raj Monday, 09 April 2012 04:13 AM
Its Gen. Sarath Fonseka and his team with the leadership of the President which gave freedom to the country, and Major General Shavendra Silva was only a member of that team. But sadly the country has forgotten that.
buffaloa citizen Monday, 09 April 2012 06:06 AM
How come all your speeches have to be forcefully arranged? If you are so sure of the truth, how come you are never invited to any international forum for a bilateral exchange?
Renu Monday, 09 April 2012 06:10 AM
it was General Fonseka who won the war for us, His strategy & his dedication ,
RAJU Monday, 09 April 2012 07:55 AM
YOU LOST YOUR DIPLOMACY.
sam Monday, 09 April 2012 08:33 AM
Mr.Shavendra, It was General Sarath Fonseka's plan and tactics that eliminated LTTE terrorism and you were one of his soldiers carried out his orders to bring the end to 03 decades old war. Finally you betrayed him . Am i correct?
MOHAMED ASFAR Tuesday, 10 April 2012 05:18 AM
sir, you gave my family freedom from terrorism. i salute you sir. negative comments are from losers.
Nodrog Tuesday, 10 April 2012 05:31 AM
Only worthwhile freedom we enjoy is the freedom to move around without the threat of bombs going off.
ranbanda Sunday, 08 April 2012 03:03 PM
Mr Silva you are not fit for diplomatic posting, we must have career diplomats not political stooges like you in key post
Nur Sunday, 08 April 2012 11:09 AM
Your comment is utter Rubbish , because of him and the team only we enjoy the freedom in Lanka !!!
DeSleva Sunday, 08 April 2012 11:52 AM
of course Sri Lanka have the the right to present it's case against war crimes and HR allegation but do far failed to take it's right and articulate it's case, instead of branding evry one as a Tiger rump.
It's the people of Sri Lanka who have lost all their rights. They cant hold peaceful demonstration against the government and it's policies, they cant form their own political party, express their opinion etc etc, they get whit vanned
Sri Lanka is becoming like Saudi Arabia and soon we will have a Rajapakse Royal Family with the right to rule the country indefinitely and the people have to accept the Royal family lose all their rights and be enslaved to them
Nodrog Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:26 PM
Idiot. We are in this situ because the world powers cannot bear that we eliminated the terrorists on our own and against their wishes.
lal Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:18 PM
Shavindra is a hero, risked his life to free the Nation from racist, genocidal terrorists. Worth listening to him.
Aberatna Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:45 PM
sir,we have no rights in sri lanka
ravi Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:39 PM
You are to late sir only you have the rights to implement Un request of LLRC which is created by government of Sri Lanka or next is economy Band.
Concerned Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:51 PM
Just like the how the country has the right to express their opinion, so does it has the obligation to comply with the decisions arrived at the UN. So, please dear Major General please advise Sri Lanka which has appointed you as their representative to speedily implement the LLRC recommendations without dilly dallying.
panda Sunday, 08 April 2012 02:38 PM
Does the same logic apply for all the Sri Lankans? Can any Sri Lankan say anything about the government's blatant abuse of power and corruption without being branded a traitor? I guess not.
Yehiya Sunday, 08 April 2012 02:49 PM
Foreign service under Mr. Kadirgarmar very professional.Today Army officers appointed to Civil & administrative field created lot of problem to country. There are no diplomatic ways in any state administration. Entire administration is major mess even minor state works are corrupted.
Noor Sunday, 08 April 2012 10:31 AM
And also UN has right to put economic ban? Am i correct Mr. Silva. 1st of all you should not be in the UN, You also one of the reason for the current situation of Sri Lanka.
faqi Sunday, 08 April 2012 04:22 PM
Your comment is so stupid. Thanks to people such as Major General Shavendra Silva that we enjoy the freedoms we do today. You seem to be a 'pandam holder' to the defeated terrorists. Your comment is unwarranted against a Sri Lanka hero.
jaya Sunday, 08 April 2012 03:56 PM
WE GOT THE FREEDOM BECAUSE OF OUR GREATEST HERO WHO ORGANIZED AND LET THE WAR. GENERAL SARATH FONSEKA. WE PRAY FOR SF ON THIS EASTER DAY AND HOPE HE WILL COME BACK AND GET THE LEADERSHIP
Mervyn Sunday, 08 April 2012 05:13 PM
Mr. Noor, you are completely wrong, Sri Lanka did not commit any war crimes like US and NATO in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jugoslavia, Pakistan etc. in recent years, and earlier in Vietnam like spraying Agent Orange thereby killing millions of innocent civilians. You should remember during any kind of arms conflicts there are things called colletral damages, this type of damages cannot be avoided. However, when comapared the US killed thousands unarmed civilians by using UAWs (the drones) in trying to find Mr. Bin Laden. So if there is any kind of economic bans it should be passed by the UN and this will never get through, but first these bans should be applied to US and NATO before against any other country.
balu Sunday, 08 April 2012 05:33 PM
you idiot we are alive today due to people like him. why dont you come out in public & make such a statement coward!
kanan Sunday, 08 April 2012 06:29 PM
Are u a rep still of UN in the US? or came back SL???why
sanathbada Sunday, 08 April 2012 07:13 PM
MAJOR GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA IS A WAR VETERAN BUT IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS, IS MERELY A TRAINEE.
perera Sunday, 08 April 2012 08:27 PM
it was actyually fonseka and his team which included shavendra.
lenny Sunday, 08 April 2012 08:34 PM
