Human violations committed during the Sri Lanka conflict must be subject to an independent, international investigation, former UN Assistant Secretary General Denis Halliday was quoted by Irish Times.

“Sri Lanka has been forgotten, despite the staggering violations of human rights, the war crimes and the crimes against humanity that took place there,” he has said. “All this has been ignored.”

A little difficult as the leaders of the LTTE who were not executed by the Sri Lankan Army are now effectively a part of the government, or certainly being nurtured by it.

Why is Sri Lanka and the comments here so defensive. If we have nothing to hide, then let anyone investigate. Are we so defensive as we have something to hide from the outside world?

    Kan Friday, 08 October 2010 05:18 AM

Why IC do not understand that Sri Lanka declared war on terrorists and not ethnic cleansing like Bosnia, Darfur and elsewhere. Here all the communities are living in peace and there is no ethnic conflict except a few rights to be given to minorities and their status preserved.
