Visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday assured that Sri Lankan cricket team will tour Pakistan soon, Pakistan based The Express Tribune reported.

Sirisena, who is on his first state visit to Pakistan, announced this during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart President Mamnoon Hussain.

Condemning the tragic attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Lahore in 2009, President Mamnoon Hussain expressed hope that Sri Lankan cricket team will tour Pakistan. He assured the President Sirisena that maximum security will be provided to the visiting team.

No test side has toured Pakistan since March, 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, killing six Pakistani policemen and injuring some of the visiting players.

Last month, cricket boards of Ireland and Zimbabwe had expressed their willingness to tour Pakistan. While non-test-playing Kenya played five one-day internationals in Lahore last year in December.

Sacrificing our boys is nothing new in SL politics.

MR made the same pledge during his visit some time back, but quietly dropped the idea after a public backlash. No doubt, should anything happen, MS will accept full responsibility for our team.

Remember we ware in the same situation once upon a time, that time who came to Sri Lanka to play and to the world that Sri Lanka is safe? Dont you all remember.Last time there were loops in the security arrangement, but Sri Lanka should visit this time with own Sri lankan commando security.

    Shevon Wednesday, 08 April 2015 02:27 PM

Hello Mr. Kolla will you agree any of other team visiting Sri Lanka with their commando security... you cant compare the then Sri Lankan situation and present Pakistani situation.

Hope Sri Lanka Cricket has insured the players well, specially for this arrangement. (Any way better to withdraw now than being sorry later).Think of the being families left behind.
