Sri Lanka defeated the West Indies by 27 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method on Thursday to enter the World Twenty20 final in Dhaka.

The West Indies, chasing Sri Lanka's 160-6, were 80-4 in 13.5 overs when a heavy downpour forced the match to be abandoned, with Marlon Samuels on 18 and Darren Sammy yet to score.
Sri Lanka were declared winners of the rain-hit semi-final since the West Indies were 27 runs behind the D/L par score of 107.

Sri Lanka await the winners of Friday's second semi-final between India and South Africa in Sunday's title clash. (AFP)

If Sri Lankans are to win the Finals, we have to play with the same team that played in Semi Finals. Selection should be based on performance only and not on sentiments.

Malinga is a lucky captain. Keep him captain & drop Chandimal for Lahiru in the Final a swell. This seems a winning combination.

    hks Friday, 04 April 2014 12:03 AM

To win a match not only the muscle power but also the brain power is very important ! WI must realize this golden rule if they want to succeed !!

    Avatar Friday, 04 April 2014 12:10 AM

I guess we'd have won the match anyway because the panic we created for the Windies and it would have been a matter of a few overs. Well done boys and do it again at the finals, our prayers are for you.

    Manel Friday, 04 April 2014 02:14 AM

Well done SL. Now all those who bask in the glory of our cricketers can buy tickets and go to B'desh and bring the CUP.

Congrats roaring Lions! Two of the three so called super nations were cheaply exit even without entering the semis. The third will exit with no chance of a final. Finals will be between Lions vs Proteas.

Kiris Baba Amaray Friday, 04 April 2014 03:50 AM

SL are the Great Lions indeed, amazing victory against WI and its a easy job for our guys to beat SA or IND whoever qualifies for the Finals today.
