The Sri Lanka Army has started producing ammunition for training purposes for the first time in Sri Lanka

“The Army has already begun the process of producing drill ammunition for training purposes, thereby saving a considerable portion of foreign exchange to the country,” the army headquarters said in a statement.

To this date, ammunition rounds for training purposes are imported by the tri-services incurring heavy costs.

All raw materials are still imported...could be cheaper buying the end product from China or Pakistan where labor is cheaper and manufacturing standards can be compromised.
