“We are at present strongly focussing on putting in place the necessary public infrastructure and strengthening the enabling policy environment for the private sector to invest even more in my country,” he said.
He further called on the support of other States in this endeavor. “In order to achieve the full realization of our potential, we desire a supportive external environment,” Rajapaksa said.

The country which is giving high respect and support for minorities will be successful in the future. Its a research.

What you say Malkanthi is a reality. Singapore for example illustrates this point. Investors will not risk their or their shareholders money in a country which they perceive as being unstable, i.e. when laws and Gov policy are continuously changing and unpredictable. The fact that most people disagree with your comment here shows that many Sri Lankans are unable to accept this reality and would rather live in denial and bury their heads in the sand. These are the people who are holding the country back. I am sure too that my comment will be voted down by those who live in a dream world and cannot take constructive criticism.

Sri Lanka is not at all well ahead of MDGs. For and example, by 1015, the government has to ensure the universal education for all and it cannot be assured without taking effective measures to in assuring education for Children with Disabilities in Sri Lanka. As per the Salamanca Declaration, The Government of Sri Lanka has agreed with the International community to provide quality education for Disabled Children through Inclusive Education. No solid attempt has made so far and thousands of Disabled Children remain at home without proper education.

Large scale foreign investments are very unlikely with ever changing policies. Investors will Not take such risks, but will find elsewhere!

Foreign governments give development aids to poor countries to the level that those poor countries can not make noises at the international level. i.e. exodus of people on economic conditions. SL must understand that foreign donor countries will never want SL to prosper above them. Identifying exact formula for the economic growth of SL is the responsibility of the SL government. Tried to shorten our view here.
