A popular singer Satish Perera has passed away this morning at a private hospital, family sources said.

The Ananda College old boy, whose father Shelton Perera was also a reputed musician and singer, was 43 at the time of his death.  He was also the brother of popular songstress Anuradha Perera.

Satish Perera was a crowd puller at musical shows where he sang a mix of his father's songs and his own creations. Among the hits were Awasan Liyumai Obata Liyanne, Maha Muhudu Wimane, Egodaha Yanno, Amba Damba Naran, Mihirethi Wasantha Kale, An Hematama Wada, Suwanda Rosa Mal, Kanduluwalin Pem Hasuna Liyannata, Adareta Hadu Dun Tharam and hundreds of others.

Satish also became popular with the 'Milton, Milton and Shelton' concert which had Priyankara Perera, Ranil Mallawarachchi and Satish Perera – sons of yesteryear veteran singers.

He launched two music albums 'Pem Hasuna' and 'Egodaha Yanno' which became hits. He had also toured several countries on musical missions. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.

Blame alcohol and smoking (and drunken music culture) for this untimely death. He was a true follower of his father who dies similarly at similar age!

    jaliya Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:29 AM

No its alcohol. they not only take alcohol in those musical shows. Many other drugs including ganja. And with high dose of alcohol many other conditions emerge like Liver cancer. So even its cancer still its because alcohol. Its time to save our younger generation from this menace!

I do not believe he is an alcholic. According to his conversation (in Chat and Music progam) I believe he learned a lesson from his father Shelton Perera (Golden vocalist).
There were premature deaths due to excessive alchol such as
    R Sivananda
    Sumith Ahangama
    Shelton Perera
    Milton Perera
    K.Sena
    Milton Mallawaarachchi
    Gunadasa Kapuge
    Clarance Wijewardana
    Mervin Mihindukula
    Gratien Ananda and more.
It is a great lost, may he attened nibbana.
