Sidath to head SLC Interim Committee

Sidath Wettamuny has been appointed to head the interim committee of Sri Lanka Cricket with effect from April 1, to carry out the functions of the SLC until an election is held or until further notice.

Sports Minister Navin Dissanayake in a gazette extraordinary issued on March 27 had named Prakash Schaffter as Secretary, Lucille Wijewardena as Treasurer and Kushil Gunasekara and Kapila Wijewardena as Vice Presidents.

The committee members are Nuzki Mohamed, Prasanna Jayawardena, JayanandaWarnaweera and Duminda Hulangamuwa.

Because of the ministers interference on SLC, its very likely that ICC will cancel SLC membership.

The selection committee needs to be changed immediately and all player choices need to be merit based not political.The coaches need to up skill their competencies regularly to compete in a demanding changing sport

Sidath is a good person, very honest and no nonsense. I have had the pleasure of working with Kushil Gunesekara, who is also a good and honest person. I worked at the cricket board for some time with Arjuna . Due to political interference from the then ministry of sports, He just could not do his job. I am so glad Minister Navin Dissanayake is cleaning up the board of all his crooks. SLC is a gold mine for Crooks. So please have it cleaned up.

Good move. But please go ahead with the corruption inquiry of the former sec who headed a TV channel against ICC rules and got TV rights over Rupavahini and deprived the SL public of watching overseas matches due poor CSN coverage islandwide.
