the country and its people are in your hands Sir, God Bless You

SF did his lot for the country. I blame bankrupt politicians for using him. They were bankrupt because they ridiculed the war effort and had no chance against the glory of MR and his hand-picked team. SF was a distinguished part of it. It was stupid to pitch one hero against all the rest. Politics in peace-time is no good for a war-time hero. Winston Churchill understood this and stepped down with eternal honour. Politics is dirty though essential. SF will never master that game. SF went through hell during and after the war and deserves a good family life at least from now one. Dear disgruntled citizens - please do not try to use him any more. Leave him to enjoy his life.

If you look at the facts without emotion, SF,MR,Gota,Pressana, Kamal,Shavendra, all of them formed an elite team to defeat the LTTE. I feel that we should not give the credit of the war to one person, which is pretty unscientific way of citing references. On the other hand it is extremly sad that one member of the elite team is behind bars and I hope sincerely that he would get a chance to be a free man and be recognized in history for the good deeds he did. I think we should keep our analysis factual and simple.

SF made a huge mistake by going in to politics. I hope he will not do so again after he is released.
Senaka Fernando Wednesday, 25 April 2012 05:55 PM
This is not the correct time to release him from the prison.

MR will never let him out. He would probarbly, make up some charges and keep him in jail. Until MR is thrown out of presidency, SF will not be able to be free.
Samayan Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:04 PM
happiest news for CIA too.

God Bless you Sir!
Lankathilake Wednesday, 25 April 2012 01:33 PM
Yes Sir, We need people like SF to govern the country who are honest, hardworking, patriotic and discipline which we lag at the moment. It's humiliating to say about a white van and as if it happened to SF, it will be the death trap to the regime. They are been numbered by many and hope they know it.
Nanda Wednesday, 25 April 2012 07:47 AM
We can do very well without SF. He is very good for a military role but not as civilian role.
Mims Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:30 AM
Fonseka may be safer behind bars. The white vans might be sent to silence him forever.
Sue Wednesday, 25 April 2012 06:30 AM
What nonsense. He will never be given bail There are people who are more scared of SF than they ever were of Prabakaran.
ravi Wednesday, 25 April 2012 06:26 AM
Mr. Fonseka will complete his first jail term on April 26 though he has not served 30 months as he has got time off for good behaviour.
No two words about it.
podiman1 Wednesday, 25 April 2012 05:25 AM
He is likely to joine a leftist group and cause more problems if he is released.
Lankan Wednesday, 25 April 2012 05:39 AM
SF is only person who can war against currupted and only their family oriented MR regime. Ranil you go home. Give the flag to SF.
fassey Wednesday, 25 April 2012 05:08 AM
Renu let him go home without any ceremonies. If we organize
ceremonies he will not get bail. Celebrations can be organized
later.

Gayan Samarasekara Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:39 AM
The very last sentence of the article that "Mr. Fonseka will complete his first jail term on April 26 though he has not served 30 months as he has got time off for good behaviour", made me reminded the discipline that he maintained as the then Army Chief. Means a lot.
fassey Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:40 AM
May God bless this WAR HERO with good health and a peaceful family life.
