The Democratic Party (DP) has filed a defamation case against its former Media Secretary Sanjeewa Samarasinghe demanding Rs. 500 million for allegedly making defamatory remarks on its Leader Sarath Fonseka.

General Secretary of the Party, Ananda Manawadu said a letter of demand was previously sent to Mr. Samarasinghe in this regard. “As he failed to response for the Letter of Demand, the party filed a case against him in a Colombo Court,” he said.

He charged Mr. Samarasinghe had made defamatory remarks on Mr.Fonseka through several media after he was expelled from the party over a money scam prior to the recent Provincial Council election.(Lahiru Pothmulla)
