Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka has been advised to visit hospital daily for a week over an ailment in his shoulders, Democratic National Alliance (DNA) said today.

DNP MP Jayantha Ketagoda said that on the advice of orthopedic surgeon Sarath Fonseka who is in Welikada prison has to attend to a private hospital in Colombo for seven days to undergo treatment.

The doctors had recommended treatment following the direction made by the Colombo High Court to prison officials to provide necessary medical treatments to Sarath Fonseka who is serving a jail term following a verdict by the Court Martial. Sequel to an application made by counsel of the Sarath Fonseka in White Flag trial, the court has directed the prison authorities to provide necessary medical treatments to jailed Presidential Candidate.

MP Ketagoda stated this in the Supreme Court premises where Sarath Fonseka attended a case he had filed in the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile MP Ketagoda also claimed that the prison authorities had not provided certain facilities properly.
The fan fixed in Sarath Fonseka’s cell is not powerful enough and we urge the authorities to repair it as is important to keep him in a clean place.
“The doctors had advised him to be kept away from dust as it is bad for his health,” MP said.  (Susitha R. Feranando)
