This innings by Sehwag was nothing special. Compare his innings to the great Saeed Anwar's knock against India playing in India. Saeed Anwar played superbly and deserved a double century.

I would rate Sanath's and Viv Richards' 189 higher than Saeed Anwar's 194. As mentioned by Dinesh, Anwar had a 18 year old Afridi running for him for his last 150 runs or so!!! Also, Sanath scored his 189 in a Cup Final and Sir Viv scored his unbeaten 189 without a helmet against FAST bowlers on a FAST pitch.

Sehwag deserves his applause for amazing show of temperament and focus. If it is so easy and nothing special, why haven't more people scored double hundreds in ODIs? Show some respect and give credit where it's due!

    awesome job.

    Mr. Thomas,

You are absolutely wrong 100%.. Viru scored 319 (320 Balls) against pakistan in Pakistan that too in a Test Match... Do not under estimate world records... This shows that you are cricket illiterate....

    fanam Friday, 09 December 2011 05:22 AM

Amazingly 142 runs out of 216 are without taking a run. He has made only 74 runs by running since he has scored 100 from boundaries and 42 from sixers. Great entertainment.

@ Mr. Thomas, You amuse me. How many double centuries you have seen after Saeed's knock? Learn to appreciate people, least do not make mockery of things. Saeed's knock was brilliant, that does not take away credit from what this man has done. Tks.

Sri Lankans ... Wake up wake up..

The God Father Friday, 09 December 2011 04:23 AM

A great Innings, he should be called "sir", non like some other batsmen who blast and keep records against the teams like Zimbabwe, Bangaledesh and Ireland.
    Indeed a real hero.

    Rock Friday, 09 December 2011 04:02 AM

He played this in India, in front of the home crowd, and in an pitch made for their batsman. No wonder they win their matches. Don't forget how this mighty indian stumbled back in England. And please Sanga has played well done more than all of this Indian team can put together. Have some respect for you own country's sportsmen.

    ajith Friday, 09 December 2011 03:21 AM

Srilankan team,This is the way you need to bat, other wise its a wast of time and energy in the middle.

    indike Friday, 09 December 2011 03:04 AM

Mahela Jayawardena has a great ODI record as an opening batsman. If Mahela opens the batting, I'm very very sure that he would score a double hundred.

    Dinesh Friday, 09 December 2011 02:00 AM

Afridi was running for Anwar !!!!

    Lal Friday, 09 December 2011 01:52 AM

Non of you people talked about that unlike the size of the country the grounds have like 55-60 meter boundaries. Therefore this is not something impossible to do for someone else

    suduputha Friday, 09 December 2011 01:16 AM

Good knock but he should take it into his and be arrogant, which he is always. He has a tendency to run down opposition teams.

    rumi Thursday, 08 December 2011 08:40 PM

yes, you need to break all tendulkar records.

    senna Thursday, 08 December 2011 01:10 PM

Good entertainer. Powerful striker.. Cricket fans go crazy when he bats. He wil do this for years to come.

    Abdul Thursday, 08 December 2011 06:29 PM

Sehwag is a treat to watch, especially when these things happen NOT against Sri Lanka,

    GonAliya Thursday, 08 December 2011 05:38 PM

Sanga, Dilshan, think about to achieve something within reach

    Fair N Square Thursday, 08 December 2011 05:37 PM

IF he wants, Jayawardana is a force to reckon with...

    Sammy Thursday, 08 December 2011 05:14 PM

SL need the likes of the big blasters like Duleep Mendis, Sanath J., Kaluwitharana & Aravinda to prop up the present batting. No one around like them now.

    Jane Thursday, 08 December 2011 04:46 PM

Great, well done man, congratulations ! good luck !

    miyya Thursday, 08 December 2011 04:27 PM

Simple. If you want something as bad you want to BREATHE you can.

    Feroze Thursday, 08 December 2011 03:58 PM

Viru, well done.Hope Sri Lanka too could have a batsmen of his ranks. Our batting is not the greatest.

    sudath Thursday, 08 December 2011 03:43 PM

    Excellent...!!!

    Darmasena Thursday, 08 December 2011 03:40 PM

Tendurkar's innings most of the time boring and he ended up in loosing team even when he makes big scores, but Shewag is real hero.

    fazli Thursday, 08 December 2011 03:29 PM

concrats, he thoroughly deserves. Wish if we could groom such talents here in SL.

    Dinithi Thursday, 08 December 2011 03:12 PM

It is soo sad that since the retirement of Jayasuriya SL does not have any batsman like Sehwag, Pathan, Afridi, Glchrist, Gayle, watson etc who can change a match within 3 overs. It makes a real difference. What we have got are traditional players...that too all out of form. Not much talent in the domestic circuit. Scary to think about our cricketing future.

    Kisho Thursday, 08 December 2011 02:49 PM

    nothing is impossible !!!

    Sammy Thursday, 08 December 2011 02:39 PM

Congrats, the master blaster of India!
