Samarasinghe to lead delegation

Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe will lead the Sri Lankan delegation to Geneva, the government said. Minister Samarasinghe will be the only minister in the delegation, the rest of the delegation will comprise officials.

Minister Samarsinghe told Daily Mirror online the President had requested him to lead the delegation.

“The President asked me and I agreed. I will be the only Minister in the delegation and the rest will be officials” he said.

Sources said in this regard a meeting chaired by the President was held yesterday. External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris, Minister Smarasinghe and other high level officials of the Ministry of External Affairs were present at the meeting when the decision was arrived at.( Hafeel Farisz)

    Is G.L Peiris a ceremonial Minister of External Affairs, after all he has traveled around the globe and laid the spadework to face the UN and now comes Mahinda Samarasinghe to lead the team. I sincerely hope that he will not mess up the whole affair like last time.
