The nomination list of the SLFP had not been finalised even though nomination papers were signed, Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said today.

“They might be changed,” he said speaking at the weekly Cabinet briefing.

The nomination list must be signed by President Maithripala Sirisena as the leader of the SLFP to finalise it.

Senaratne said a report had been submitted to President urging that nomination should not be given to those who were charged with various allegations.

When asked if former President Mahinda Rajapaksa would be entitled to privileges granted to a former President if he was elected to Parliament as an MP, he said that Rajapaksa could not enjoy two privileges at the same time- that of an ex-president and of an MP.

Minister Senaratne said in lighter vein that Mr. Rajapaksa would get only two security personnel, if he was elected as an Opposition MP.

At present Rajapaksa is given a contingent of more than 200 security personnel as a former President.(Ajith Siriwardana)

If M.R is nominated, then M.S does not have a mandate because 5.8 voted against him and he ratted on the 6.2 million.

People are stupid to wait in queues and vote for these jokers who have ruined the country for 66 years. Media is the main agency to spoil them by giving such prominence to inane things they say. Every sector is politicized, every possible way to earn money exploited by politicians

Sri Lanka is traditionally a Buddhist nation and proud of that heritage. I honour that and respect those traditions. But, carefully consider what real contentment it has brought to the nation and her people. We dwell on the adage that it is our "karma" to be what we are are. We allow rampant corruption, raise to the highest level those who are known and accepted as being corrupt. we saw a bright light shine on our nation in early January and now it appears all hope is gone. One side says, "those who are corrupt will be born as dogs", and the other side waits to take vengeance! O, Lord our God, PLEASE help us.

1)M3 has no back bone and sway quite a bit .He even wanted his daughter into politics after saying once no family forces in politics.2) True MR should not be given any more security .As he is a normal citizen when papers are signed. His henchmen who wants him to save them from all the corruption must protect him herewith.

Mahinda NEED to learn to not have teh cake and it it as well, either this or that... If he is given, nominations.. regardless of whether he is ELECTED or SELECTED.... he should not be provided his perks that he was entitled as an ex President..moreover, WE are a THIRD world country and we have to acknowledge that. WE CANNOT afford to provide 200 security personal to an ex President. EVEN Bill Clinton, GW Bush or any US ex president has a 200 security personnel...

Wobbly nature of MS shows that everything is final now.

If MR is nominated his security should be withdrawn immediately not wait till he bacomes an MP. If so, all other nominated persons should be given 200 security plus Bullet proof Bensz car and other vehicles. My opinion is that once nominated he becomes a normal citizen with no previlages
