Russian national drowns in Hikkaduwa seas

A 40-year-old Russian national drowned in the seas off Thiranagama in Hikkaduwa while having a sea bath last evening, the Police said.

They said his body was recovered by the police and navy lifeguard personnel.

His body is lying at the Mortuary of the Karapitiya Hospital.

    Personally I have noticed that the Hikka beach seems to have high tides after they started pulling sand for the Galle-face sea expansion. Poor fellow, what a tragedy.

    I would have thought this warrants an autopsy to determine the cause of death. It is futile to rely always on what appears obvious.
