nimal gunatilleka Monday, 24 January 2011 04:13 PM

I do agree with the suggestion. This should also include, motor cycles, with a clause "Allowed up to legal passenger capacity only "guiding both, authorities as well as the transporters added. The three wheelers & cyclists weave thru heavily over crowded& busy traffic causing many mishaps.

    I Hussein Monday, 24 January 2011 05:01 AM

What kind of benifits in future?
If its for students safety concern that make sence but parents have no other altanative solutions.

    TMA Monday, 24 January 2011 04:33 AM

OK. So what's the limit? buses R always loaded over the limit. Especially in the morning.

    Milson Monday, 24 January 2011 04:11 AM

knight Rider Monday, 24 January 2011 03:48 AM

Safety & security should be top priority in our transport systems including roads. and there should be special team to identify all road and transport hazards on a daily basis which reduce accident and traffic jams

Their should be a strong policies regarding control of the school vans mafia. Because, they are getting money from the parents without any justiable reason. Even. vaction period, most of school vans asking ful lpayment .But , no any investigating or monitering machanism in this regard. Threfore these kind of issues should be considered.

SL lover Sunday, 23 January 2011 01:27 PM

    Hello Dear,

Banning any method of transport can be a disaster to middle and lower class parets. But I suggest to have a rule to limit the pessengers in any vehicle as standard.

    Yehiya-Doha Sunday, 23 January 2011 12:20 PM

First provide the facilities, No buses in the morning.

Lankan forver Sunday, 23 January 2011 11:50 AM

All over the island not possible, only in colombo it be fine. If it good banning over loading in Trishaw, Private & SLTB Buses not only student for passenger. Specially speed limit and music sounds.

    Anushka Sunday, 23 January 2011 06:42 AM

School students aren't allowed to travel in trishaws? What kind of child protection is this? Many parents prefer to send their children in trishaws to get them away from problems like congestion in buses

    meranchi Sunday, 23 January 2011 10:09 AM

why banned travailing school children by there are own way maybe she signed contract with one of the transport company owner or miss use the power ......i

    4Wheelman Sunday, 23 January 2011 09:36 AM

So this means that my 3 wheel neighbour can't transport his own 3 kids to school in his trisho ???

    Ari Sunday, 23 January 2011 09:28 AM

How did the widely prevalent practice of transporting school children as pillion riders on motor bicycles and similarf conveyances escape the attention of the NCPA Chairperson?

    DHA Sunday, 23 January 2011 09:10 AM

Finally the authorities eyes have opened....!!!

    usj1976 Sunday, 23 January 2011 09:05 AM

Yes Gov can impose the rules we need alternatives
simply throwing the words without eveluate effective, this is the gov rulers attitude, one u imposse the law and alder give the alternative to public

loku aiya Sunday, 23 January 2011 08:21 AM

what do you then expect the students to do? walk to home?

first of all try to provide ample transport facilities, then talk all about this.

    concors Sunday, 23 January 2011 08:10 AM

schools should arrange buses, private transport should be allowed to transport school children according to the seat capacity, mainly because the y charge very high fee for transportt. its a good move.

    Thinuka Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:58 AM

Exactly correct, Sri Lankan politics know only to ban services & facilities. They never give PROPER alternative method, prior to those bans..

    Commonsense Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:40 AM

I think this news lack of data. This news should be published how overcome the problem?

    Royalist Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:33 AM

Then the NCPA can provide us with Ministerial Limousines to send the children to school!

    Marikkar Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:28 AM

Right decision by the authorities although it may have negative consequence at present, it has long term benefits for our future generation.

    Panta Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:27 AM

I want to send my child to school by trishaw. We can not effort sending child to school by car or van. Do NCPA provide a well protected vehicle to my child???????

    hrm Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:10 AM

trishaws are convenient but it's survivability is low when met with an accident compared to closed vehicles.

    consciousview Sunday, 23 January 2011 07:02 AM

I think what they're referring to are trishaws that transport five to six children crammed into one trishaw.

    Sammy Sunday, 23 January 2011 06:57 AM

While banning on the one side, there should be special provisions on the other. These transport means are resorted to because of the inconvenience & non-affordability of other means.
