Rs.2.5mn missing from Bank ATM

Ambalangoda police initiated investigations on a complaint lodged by the Ambalangoda Peoples bank over fraudulent alleged robbery of Rs.2,513,900 from the bank’s ATM this evening, police said.

The incident was reported after the discovery of the missing money while the ATM was being repaired. Ambalangoda police suspected that, this maybe an internal fraud. (Yasas P. Mendis)

Banks have a limit to ATM withdrawals so either the machine had to be busted from outside to get at the money or the cash never went in to the bins at replenishing time- Clearly and inside job and it happens to be a state bank where internal security is zilch!!!
