The CID is investigating an alleged fraud at Rotary Club of Rs.17.8 million received for Tsunami relief work, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court was informed yesterday.

The investigations had begun after the 3220 District Governor for 2011-2012 complained that a former Governor who held office during 2004-2005 had defrauded the club of a part of the funds donated by AES Kelanitissa (Pvt.) Limited. 1

The complainant had told the CID that this company had donated Rs.28.1 million for Tsunami relief work in the coastal areas.

He alleged that the former governor had deposited the funds in a fake bank account and had only completed a portion of the relief work.
The 3220 District Governor had requested the CID to investigate the matter because the former governor had breached the trust placed in the entire Rotary Club movement in Sri Lanka.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

WHILE SOME SERIOUSLY SERVICE OROENTED SOCIAL SERVICE ORGNISATIONS ARE PERFORMING A YEOMENSELFLESS SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY, GHERE ARE A FEW CLUBS LIKE THE ROTARY, LIONS, APEX AND IN PATCUARY A MAJOITY NUMBER OF NGO's THAT INDULGE IN FRAUDULANT TRAANSACTIONS. PARTICULARLY THE NGO'S ARE THE WORST AND THEIRI STAKES ARE IN MULTI MILLIONS. TO BRING THEM INTO BOOK REQUIRES THE VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION OF AUDACIOUS,FEAALESS PARTRIOTS,OF WHOM NOT THAT HIS COUNTRY LACK SO MUCH, BUT DO NOT FREQUENTLY PARTICIPATE FOR LACK OF PUBLIC COOPERATION, REGRETFULLY. NGOS ARE HE BIGGEST CROOKS.

These goons use various name and loot milians. Rotary club and Lions Club in Srilanka do the same fraud. They spend Rs. 10 for chrity and spend Rs.1000 for prperganda. These are similar to all NGO including Sarwodaya

Being involved in this movement I can proudly say Rotary is a transparent organization. However, lately there is a disturbing pattern. I quit this movement because some people are hypocrites.
