In his insistence upon the implementation of constitutional reforms, the convener of the National Movement for Social Justice, the Ven. Maduluwave Sobhitha Thera said that ‘roti’ had to be made when the griddle was heated to the right temperature.

He said the griddle had been heated for President Maitripala Sirisena to make ‘roti’ and not for him to bask in its warmth.

The Thera said that, at the time of the presidential election, he had proposed that Mr. Sirisena implement the constitutional and electoral reforms within six months of his election to office.

“But the president himself promised to do it within 100 days of his election to office,” he said.

The Thera was addressing a function organised by a group called ‘Citizens for Social Justice’. (Diana Udayangani)

Venerable Thero, Think about your back stabbing to MR to bring this puppet MY3. You have to bring at least little bit strong puppet to survive fore 100 days to change the Executive power. This puppet is very week juggling now without taking a decision. You learn a lesson and will get consiquences when MR becomes next leader again

    Kumar Monday, 02 March 2015 04:52 PM

You said 6mths,MS said 100 days, now why the unnecessary shouting when its only 50 days?.Its time the silent majority realises that unity is eating from the same plate. we could have been born into the the other community. If we dont put a stop to the so called patriots with ulterior motives the day may not be far when Sri Lanka will be divided.

    Dayawathie Monday, 02 March 2015 02:33 PM

With all due respect for you Rev. Thero, you have been taken for a ride, or in other words you got cheated by this mob. Sri Lanka is ruined.

There is too much talk and very little action. It will not be one piece "Rotti" , but will be much chopped "Kotthu Rotti" in the end.

    Fernandez Monday, 02 March 2015 12:45 PM

MY3 is enjoying the comfort of the Executive Presidency while Ranil is ruling the country. Is this what you fought for?

Buddhists monks should be not involved in politics and should remain in their temples preaching.

    Aruna Monday, 02 March 2015 12:24 PM

The conclusion is monk does not understand politics.

@Ajith Kumara - Message from the day dreaming and body heating clans.

    Senator Monday, 02 March 2015 10:03 AM

Its seems no changes will be made to the Presidential system.Once in power,no one wants to relinquish theabsolute , which the Presidency yields. After all Politicos are power hungry.

    Sara Monday, 02 March 2015 09:43 AM

Please wait Ven Thero, Lunumiris should be ready first not the Roti, lest the Roti will be too cold to eat. In vain you wasted your precious time near the thatiya. Far better if all of us do what we are meant for, Monks for Dhamma that is unblemished (nirmala), Politicians for Politics which so dirty.

Very nicely conveyed message. I am sure ‘Citizens for Social Justice’ group will succeed if honest people are in the group.

Ven. Maduluwave Sobhitha Thera is graet monk. For me is an example living Lord Buddha. Evey monk in our country should follow his steps

de silva Monday, 02 March 2015 08:19 AM

Well said.It seems to be that some elements in the Government and in the opposition wants to go back to the old system. In a next election if held the public should teach a lesson to these thugs so that they will be wiped out from the political arena.

    Mm Monday, 02 March 2015 08:17 AM

    Hareesz R Monday, 02 March 2015 08:12 AM

Well said. It has to be now before they are comfortable in the seat. Keep the pressure on Ven Sobitha.

    R.Sunthar Monday, 02 March 2015 07:25 AM

Pre-election manifesto appears to have no bearing on the post -election governance.

    simon Monday, 02 March 2015 06:42 AM

Not sure why the Buddhist priests should get involved in politics. It is is not very respectful for Buddhism.

    madi Monday, 02 March 2015 03:28 AM

    Boo !

Gamini Dullewe Monday, 02 March 2015 01:21 AM

With all due respect, Roti toasted than roasted. And i always wonder why you dont see the danger of UNP introducing federal system to SL. Why would you want to support such an anti-SL party.
