The Irrigation Department said that the Kelani, Kalu, Gin & Nilwala rivers are beginning to spill and people living downstream on the river banks should be cautious of possible floods in four hours.

Meanwhile, due to the current weather condition, all schools in the Nuwara Eliya district will be closed tomorrow, Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake said.

# Mr. Plod: Yes , if you checked the news NY is 50% back to normal in the second day after the devastating storm. By next week everything would be back to normal in the 'Big Apple". Americans do not wait around for a hand outs or for help from outside sources. If there is a problem they tackle it themselves.

The ancient tanks should be dredged so they are much deeper than when they were built to hold more water. Parakrama Bahu's ocean is ideal to make it much deeper and thereby avoid the problems of drougt.

#malkanthi: This natural phenomena has nothing to do with praying. This is nature . It effects different countries at different times. If praying is effective, then why not pray for the rain to stop?
These are all false iron age beliefs that have no validity in the 21st century. We have science now, to explain the universe & the climate.

Many rituals were held for rain during drought, CEB was crying aloud, artificial rain was to be imported from China, now pray for the rain to cease! Only a believer knows how to say a specific prayer that will not create havoc!
