Resort manager feels faint during cross examination

The manager of the Nature Resort at Tangalle today, while being further cross examined by the Counsel for the first accused in the Khuram Shaikh murder case felt faint and the cross examination was adjourned and postponed for today.

The manager R. Dilrukshi Tharanga Pieris on interrogation by Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe PC said she had made two statements to the police.

The witness said she made one statement to the Tangalle police on December 25, 2011 around 2.10 am but could not say whether the statement was read over to her by the police even though it was stated in her statement that it was read over to her.

Ms Pieris also said that she had told police everything that she knew.

The witness said she could not confirm whether she said in her statement the words “That is all I have to say,” as she was not in her proper senses at the time.

The witness also said she never signed any blank papers given by the police. She said the second statement was made to the CID after being taken to the CID in a jeep and could not say whether it was read over to her before signing it.

The Case against the accused O.A. Lahiru Kelum, U. Saman Deshapriya, Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sampath Chandra Gupta Vidya Pathirana, W. Prageeth Chaturanga, M. Sarath alias Sahan, S. Prageeth Chaturanga, was taken up for hearing before Colombo High Court Judge Rohini Welgama on a request made by the Attorney General. (T. Farook Thajudeen)

I was there in this hotel on 25th Dec , On vacation is Sri Lanka. They killed this British and shot him near the pool. They also took his girlfriend away in their defender jeep.
