The re-poll of the General Elections in the Nawalapitiya and Trincomalee electorates is to be held on April 20 and the Gazette notification to this effect is expected to be issued by the Department of Elections this evening, election officials told Daily Mirror online.
Counting at the Nawalapitiya and Trincomalee electorates were suspended yesterday following several incidents and the Department of Elections withheld announcing the final results of the 2010 General Elections until a re-poll was held in those areas.
The results from the Nawalapitiya electorate were suspended following incidents of vote rigging, polling agents being threatened and voters being intimidated while the results from the Trincomalee electorate in the Trincomalee district were suspended as a result of ballot papers from a poling booth in Kumburupitiya in the Trincomalee electorate being stolen by a gang.

Utter waste of public money and time. Declare urself the victor and stop this drama of wasting money. People are fed up not that the whole SL has given u the mandate. Half of them rejected you by not voting. MR & family go and ruin the remaining of the country, we deserve it which is inevitable in any case.
