UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says the issue of the advisory panel appointed by UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon should be debated in Parliament. He said this in response to a question posed by journalists in Chennai.

According to the Hindu, Mr. Wickramasinghe said the government was taking steps to resolve the ethnic issue in both the northern and eastern provinces. He expressed concern at the plight of the internally displaced Tamils and their rehabilitation.

He spoke to journalists on Tuesday at the airport here ahead of his journey to Ladakh.

Answering a question on the attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, he said there were mixed views on the issue in his country. There were also reports of Indian fishermen entering the Sri Lankan waters, and the issue had to be resolved through dialogue.

Asked about allowing the United Nation's advisory panel to visit Sri Lanka, Mr. Wickramasinghe said the issue had to be debated in Parliament.

Unfortunately, none of the Sinhalese leaders ever behave like Sri Lankan's leaders. In contrary, they always behave like Sinhalese leaders. As a result, they could not stand up for justic.

RW should have told this before he left. However if he wants a debate he can ask Dr. Manmohan to debate in the "Loak Saba". He can watch the debate, being in the gallery.

Why should SL parliament debate on an illegal panel appointed by a guy who has proven himself to be a puppet of the anti Sri lankan lobby headed by a Tamil women called Pillai. If our fool Ranil wants to debate he should go to Chennai.

Ranil W. is not representing the government, his vision and knowledge if far ahead of any present politicians. So interviewing him is not important at this stage.

A DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT YES BUT IF THE CONTRIBUTION FROM THE GOVERNMENT IS LIKE THAT OF MINISTER MERVYN ANSWERING TABLED QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE, THIS DEBATE TOO WILL MAKE SRI LANKA THE LAUGHING STOCK IN THE EYES OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.
