Opposition Leader Ranil Wicmremeighe urged President Mahinda Rajapaksa today not to approve the second court martial verdict on Former Army Commander DNA leader Sarath Fonseka. Mr. Wickremesinghe said that the ruling would affect the parliamentary privileges of MP Fonseka if approved by the President.

Good move from Ranil after a long time... Please do the necessary to help the War Hero SF. The wrongs he has done are very small compared to the great service he provided to save the country.

If MR approves this, he will be seen as directly responsible for what is happening to SF. Until now all the events that have taken place could have been seen as SF facing the law for his acts. But now MR will determine the outcome, which will reflect on him. If he approves it, then he will be seen as taking revenge on him, obviously this will affect MR's popularity. He might even choose not to approve the sentence and score some points. Either way he will play to the audience and there would be segments that will welcome each of these moves.

The public should be united on this issue and support RW.

Where are the saner voices in our country? Why are we allowing this travesty to continue? Every decent citizen should rally round Ranil and support him in his effort to grant some redress to Gen. S.F, who is no ordinary war hero, He led the Forces in the defeat of the ruthless LTTE. Its shame on all of us, the way he is being treated like a common criminal.

Who cares the parliment previleges?. 18th amendment has already underminded the parliment democracy and rights and cannot expect justice for SF.

Irrespective of any wrongs that he may have done one cannot deny the great services that he has done to this mother land. High time both him and MR decide to keep their pride away and to be humble. MR may be in power today and SF may be in power tomorrow. But let sanity prevail and may God guide both these great leaders to be humble.
