Rajarata Uni. students arrested over Satyagraha

Rajarata University students who were staging a ‘Satyagraha’ near the Rajarata University in Mihintale had been forcibly removed by the Mihintale Police from the site, the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) charged today.

Nine students were also arrested, it charged.

“Students have been holding a Satyagraha against the suspension of 27 students of the University for 66 days. But today the police forcibly removed the students from the Satyagraha and arrested nine students,” IUSF Convener Najith Indika said.

    It was only in this week the courts gave a ruling that Sathyagraha is legal within the legal framework of Sri Lanka. Is the Police acting within the this legal framework or outside it?

    Probably not but these useless students must be banned from attending any classes. They are a case of dog and the manger! There are thousands who want to go to the university.
