Rain drains gems in Kantale

Over 1000 people have started searching gems on the bank of Kantale tank following rumours of several gems being surfaced after heavy rain from yesterday.

Police sources said that people have gathered in numbers after a rumour that four gem stones were found yesterday and today from the bank of the tank. The police and Army have been deployed to prevent digging the bank or committing any other illegal activity. (Pix by W.M Wickremesinghe)
