Rail track on fire

More than hundred railway sleepers were destroyed due to a fire in the railway track between Saliyapura and Bandarapuliyankulama, Anuradhapura area this afternoon.

The Train services were interrupted for a short time due to the fire.

Senior officer of the railway control room stated that they have taken steps to deploy a team to repair the track. (Rohana Chandradasa)

    But how could it have happened, unless it was a deliberate act of mischief or sabotage. It couldn't have been due to the severe drought. Railway sleepers have survived the raging sun even in the Sahara!

    I have observed the famers setting fire to the dried fields. This may have caused to fire. In Sri Lanka most people do not care of the others, that is the cause of most of these problems.
